The chromatograms of four carbamate pesticides of 1 mg L-1
and Triton-100 of 4% (w/v) in the UV region (at 230 nm) were
obtained. The four carbamate pesticides were eluted in the order
AC, CF, IC, and FC with retentions of 4.2, 5.6, 8.8, and 11.0 min,
respectively. It was found that the background absorbance of
Triton-100 could overlap the chromatographic peak of the four
carbamate pesticides at 230 nm. Therefore, the four pesticides
cannot be detected with the CPE-HPLC method in the UV
region.
