The MIRA observations are being performed with the
36-in (91-cm) telescope at the Oliver Observing Station
on Chews Ridge. A 512-element Reticon array is being
used with the blue spectrograph to obtain resolutions of
7 Á or 14 Á. At 14 angstroms/diode the entire spectrum
detectable by the silicon sensor is recorded; no order
sorting or filtering is performed. We confirmed Ha emission
in less than one-half of the objects that we examined
from Stephenson’s list in the early stages ofthis research.
As a result we are now giving observing preference to
those noted as strong emission objects
