tween the knowledge of caregivers in the two
groups after controlling for other variables.
Many studies have suggested that the
knowledge level of caregivers is an important
factor in the severity of DHF. However, this study
found that the caregivers in the cases had a
better knowledge than the controls. This may
be because their children were admitted to the
hospital. This gave them the opportunity to obtain
knowledge regarding DHF and the signs and
symptoms of shock (Kittigul et al, 2003).
