The effect of the initial sample mass on the overall heat demand
of the pyrolysis process and on secondary reactions was a focal
point of recent studies [11–13]. Thus, a set of experimental TG and
DSC runs was carried out at atmospheric pressure, varying the initial weight of the sample in the range between 3 and 13 mg, to
assess the influence of this parameter on the overall heat demand
of pyrolysis. In Table 2, the important influence of the initial sample weight on the char yield at atmospheric pressure up to a final
temperature of 550 ◦C is evidenced. The char yields are calculated
