Although the current study had excellent estimates of internal consistency, and associations between study variables were within the expected direction, we did not include multiple modes of assessment (e.g., interviews).
In addition, we included only a single item to measure a past-year suicide attempt, instead of a multiple item assessment.
Future studies should consider using multiple items to assess suicidal behavior and a multimodal data collection strategy with college students, such as conducting face-to-face interviews, in addition to administering self-report questionnaires to examine for the potential of method effects.
