Branding Monk Chat and PR Ideas
1. Design a logo (symbol)
2. Create a slogan: eg. ‘learning by chatting’; ’chatting exchange’; ‘Just be Good’; etc. (‘slogan’ means catchy phrase)
3. Advertise Monk Chat (free community section of city life)
4. Design a poster to put in front of temple (or if not allowed, then near gate of temple), and a second poster on Monk Chat door
5. Upgrade website to show new branded image (Monk Chat colours, reflect quality, logo, slogan, etc. put Monk Chat Dharma talk scripts on website, photos of meditation retreats etc)
6. Quality:
Have small poster in Monk Chat stating our ‘Continuous Upgrading of Quality’ by:
1. On-going training of monk chat monks in knowledge of Buddhism;
2. Quality control that all monks are consistent in what they tell foreigners
3. Strict guidelines about behavior and dress of monks
4. Sell good quality souvenirs (and never run out of stock)
7. Good quality regular seminars and guest speakers - advertise these in City Life
8. Regular dharma talks
9. Develop relationships with media (such as City Life, Bangkok Post, Chiang Mai Mail) and local FM radio stations (Thai ad English).
- Invite the journalists and build relationships with to attend the events
11. Create comfortable sitting environment around Monk Chat
12. Monk Chat member cards with logo for monks
13. Monk Chat program that foreigners can join to receive newsletters and details of talks & articles.
14. Internet: Facebook, Twitter etc.
15. Hold well publicized events such as monthly quiz or seminar for monks and foreigners to take part together (such as the excellent events organized by Phra Maetee 3rd year student for the New Year activities in Mae Sarieng).
