As regards the internal requirement of mens rea , It is generally thought that a man is mentally normal unless he has shown any sign of aberration. D does not show himself to be out of control of his mind. therefore, even though a does not die as D originally intended, D must be guilty of his own evil conduct. And when the intended result of his conduct which is a crime in itself does not come about, he is guilty of an attempt to do it. in this case D is thus guilty of attempted murder.
