Canadians tell us that they want to eat healthier and being active is an essential part of healthy living. But Canadians find it difficult to make healthy, informed food choices because nutrition messages are often conflicting, and difficult to apply to their daily lives. When it comes to physical activity, generally, Canadians are simply not active enough to achieve health benefits.
Dietitians of Canada and Kraft Canada believe that there needs to be a widespread effort in Canada to help consumers adopt healthy living behaviours. Since its inception in 1997, The Speaking of Food and Healthy Living Award: Excellence in Consumer Communication has recognized communication initiatives that do exactly that.
Award recipients are recognized at an awards ceremony at the annual Dietitians of Canada Conference and receive travel and accommodation expenses. The national winner of the competition will be presented with the Award of Excellence and a $5,000 cash award, while the remaining five regional winners will receive a Certificate of Merit and a $500 cash award.
The Dietitians of Canada and Kraft Canada are working together to recognize innovative programs that redefine ways to promote healthy living in schools, communities, hearts and minds across Canada. We thank all our award winners for helping millions of Canadians, and invite you to join us in pursuit of healthy living.
