The experiment design used was a split-split-plot design
with five replications to test for differences in DM loss across
storage treatments [30]. The whole plots included three particle
sizes of baled switchgrass: 1) full length [~243.84 cm] (PS-
1), 2) 7.62 cm (PS-2), and 3) 1.27 cm1.91 cm (PS-3). The constant
particle sizes were determined and measured by the
screen size attached to the grinding system. The distribution
of particle size was determined using a RO-TAP sieve analysis
according to American Society of Agricultural Biological Engineers
(ASABE) standards [31].
