Earthquake has long been recognized as natural hazard. The
released energy from large-magnitude earthquakes is huge. If the
scale of energy and location where the energy is stored can
be explored, the exploitation of earthquake-related energy
and the prediction of earthquake-triggering location become possible.
The anomalous stress area is defined as the possible areas where
the strain energy is accumulated. Although for the time being earthquake
prediction is not doable, the benefit to utilize the released
energy, if possible, is obvious. The conceptual model for estimating
area of anomalous stress provides the tool for estimating the possible
areas of the energy source of a forthcoming earthquake if
pre-seismic groundwater level variations are detected.
