Even though most ergonomic interventions were
LCS, there were other ergonomic interventions that
had higher costs. The factory management is currently
weighing the cost–benefits of changing the metal tube
material to a less noisy material like that of composite
metal. In addition, a long-term intervention decision
is to outsource the plating process to a local established
plating company that has the expertise and resources
to manage waste and maintain product quality. Outsourcing
will eliminate the chemical stench and solve
the problem of the lack of floor space. Although these
interventions are costly, they will benefit the workers’
OHS, reduce the plant’s environment pollution,
and minimize maintenance. Nevertheless, the LCS ergonomic
interventions successfully solved the majority
of OHS problems in the factory.
