It really does sound like the same sort of absurd excuses that Rob Ford makes when he is asked about stupid things he has done or said. 'People didn't ask the right questions'.
You are obviously completely on your own in Southeast Asia if your jet goes missing or is hijacked. Authorities there definitely won't notice anything even if hijackers fly the jet right by and even right through the airspace of various countries in that region. If you are going to have any chance to be found or rescued, it will have to be completely under your own effort. Don't expect various authorities to bother to check their military primary radar records until at least a week or two after the fact, let alone notice something is wrong in real time...
