People in Phuket do not eat as much glutinous rice as people in other parts of Thailand do. Steamed glutinous rice eaten with fried or roast chicken and papaya salad or Somtum was introduced on the island not vary ling ago. However, people here love glutinous rice and eat it as desserts . Normally, glutinous rice and steamed until done. Then , it is mixed with coconut milk and eaten with Thai custard or with such fruits as durians, mangoes, jackfruit, etc. Sometimes, it is wrapped in banana leaves with a banana or taro filling and boiled or grilled on slow charcoal fire. Some people love glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk in bamboo called Kao Lham.
