c. Religious organizations
Religion is one of the oldest social institutions as well as an
integral part of culture. In Africa, many cultural practices
are centered round the religious beliefs of the people. For
there to be any meaningful social change in the lives of
people, the contribution of religious institutions is invaluable.
In many cultures the opinions of religious leaders are
highly respected and in some cases revered. Many African
children and adolescents will listen to their preacher or
Imam. These religious leaders have a part to play in
counseling the youths to refrain from cybercrime. However,
many religious leaders in Africa are not even aware
of cybercrimes such as cyber bullying and cyber violence
and need sensitization themselves.
