Students’ perceptions of the accountant as being solitary versus people oriented are captured with descriptors such as introvert versus extrovert, number crunching versus
people oriented and solitary versus interaction with others. The pairings for the interest in the profession include the following: boring versus interesting, dull versus exciting,
monotonous versus fascination and tedious versus absorbing. The pairings reflect students’ perceptions of whether the accounting profession and the work undertaken by accountants,is dull and boring or interesting and exciting.
