The largest of the ceratopsians, or horned
dinosaurs, was the well-known Triceratops.
It was probably hunted by the meat-eating
Tyrannosaurus, and both were among the
very last of the dinosaurs, surviving
'right up to the mass-extinction event of
65 million years ago. Its 50 or so cheek
teeth were very small compared with the
size of the dinosaur's massive head, with
its nasal horn, twin eyebrow horns and wide,
ruff-like neck frill. The front of Triceratops'
mouth was a toothless beak used for snipping
and plucking vegetation. The remains of several
Triceratops of different sizes found• in the same
location indicate that this dinosaur herded in
. mixed-age groups,
