Hokama, Cripps, Hokama, Abad, Sato, and Kimura (1983) reporteda blastogenic inhibitory factor extracted from A. polytrich, which factor suppresses the incorporation of 3H-thymidine in mitogen-induced blood mononuclear cells in vitro. This blastogenic inhibitory factor, which is a compound of low-molecular weight and can also be prepared from A. polytrich dialysates, is unrelated to the platelet-inhibiting compound and has not yet been isolated. Yagi and Tadera (1988) reported a galactose-binding lectin of A. polytrich, wit a molecular mass of 23.0 kDa and a basic pI value.
