The outcomes of hydrocephalus have been extensively
studied. Hydrocephalus can result in long-term cognitive
decline and the development of psycho-organic disorders
[22,23]. This study demonstrates the worst shortterm
outcome and longest duration of hospitalization in
patients with subsequent hydrocephalus, and the prognosis
is also worst after 1.5 years of follow-up. Worse
short- and long-term outcomes and longer duration of
hospitalization are also noted in shunt-dependent hydrocephalus
patients.
