HOBBIES.
Sometimes hobbies grow be yond their status as leisure activities to become businesses. For instance, a student who loves skiing might start a ski equipment rental business as a way to make income from an activity that she enjoys. Consider Bill Martin and Greg Wright, who have a passion for the stock market and Rutgers University, respectively, they created a Web site called Raging Bull, with a mrssage board where their friends could chat about stocks. The Wed site received only a modest response until Martin and Wright conceived of an "ignored" button, which allows a user to block out messages the user considers or offensive. We noticed that the biggest problem with message boards was spamming: people being vulgar or just dumb, seys Wright. We wanted people to enjoy what was valuable without worrying about the other stuff. The revised site so many users that @Ventures, a venture-capital firm, invested $2 million in the start-up.
