the majority of dismissals came from the ranks of the higher civil service. Out of 1,663 Prussian members of the higher civil service infield positions, 469, or 28%, either were dismissed as “unreliable” or Jewish (12.5%), or were demoted to lower positions for “administrative reasons” (15.5%). In the middle brackets of the civil service, including the clerical class, only 3.46% were affected (1.13% "unreliable"; 2.33% for “other reasons”).
