Bhumibol Adulyadej or Phumiphon Adunyadet; pronounced see full title below; born 5 December 1927) is the King of Thailand. He is also known as Rama IX, as he is the ninth monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. Having reigned since 9 June 1946, he is the world's longest-serving current head of state and the longest-reigning monarch inThai history, serving for 69 years, 104 days.[1]
