When Abby met Mark again, she was a young 17 years old and he was a sophisticated (and good looking) 20 years old man who she thought was just perfect. He was charming, successful, engaging, and interesting. His interests and goals became her interests and goals because she didn’t have any of her own at the time. They married just before graduation. As most high school sweethearts did, Abby and Mark thought they were going to be together forever, and their parents definitely encouraged that. They went to the same university. Abby got married and lost her even more. From the outside, she probably looked as if she was living the dream. She had the nice house, nice car, and nice job. It was all ‘picture perfect’ and maybe it was somebody’s dream, but it was NOT hers, because he was not there.
