This movie has an amazing concept and story at its core. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt are both awesome in this movie. Their chemistry is great, and I enjoyed the way their interactions changed over the film. Cruise in particular plays his part really well, and the skills and confidence that his character accrues over the movie show on his face.
However, the plot was just bogged down by a lot of unnecessary detail that I could have done without. Unlike the elegantly simple and thought-provoking Groundhog Day, this movie never really stops to think about the profound effects that redoing a day can have on a person. Instead, it brings things like alien time-manipulating magic into the plot to explain this away -- honestly something I could have done without. There are a lot of other weird things in the movie, too (the idea of "visions" and a whole bunch of rules on how the time powers work come to mind). All these things together muddle what could have otherwise been an incredibly great movie. That said, it was still really enjoyable to watch and I'd recommend it whole-heartedly.
