P. chinensis were obtained from the Tainan Branch of Taiwan Fisheries Research
Institute, shipped to the University and acclimated to 33 ppt for one week. Shrimps used
were 2.48"0.23 cm in total length, and 0.11"0.04 g in wet weight. They were
acclimated at 10, 20, 30 and 40 ppt at 248C for 2 weeks, and afterwards at 12, 18, 24
and 308C at each salinity for 2 weeks. After two steps of acclimation, shrimps were
reared at each combination of salinity and temperature for 50 days.
