Nowadays, millions of tons of plastic are produced annually
all over the world, and the production and consumption continue both to increase; this increase has created serious environmental problems due to the materials’ inability to biodegrade. In order to solve the problems generated by plastic waste, much research effort has been done to obtain an environmentally friendly material. Recently,natural polymers have received much attention due to the environmental concerns, as well as strong requirements for economic independence of fossil resources .Biodegradable edible films can prevent quality deterioration and increase the shelf life of food products by acting as barriers to control the transfer of moisture, oxygen, lipids, and flavors.
