Conalbumin sensitisation and induction of lung
inflammation
Intraperitoneal injections were administered to the mice for
sensitisation, using 200 lg of conalbumin along with 2 mg of
alum in 0.3 ml of PBS on alternating weeks. The mice were
anesthetised and challenged with conalbumin intratracheally
by aspiration seven days after the last sensitisation (Keane-
Myers et al., 1998; Li et al., 2000). Specifically, the mice were
placed on a board in a supine position, the tongue was
extended using lined forceps, and conalbumin (100 lg/50 ll
PBS) was applied to the back of the tongue. The intratracheal
challenges were repeated after 20 and 30 days (Group II).
