Panda’s live in a solitary existence. They reach mature sexuality between 4 ½ to 6 ½ years of age. During the months of March to May is when Panda’s mate. The male Panda’s a large home range that may overlap with several of the female’s much smaller home lands. During the female’s 1-3 week period of estrus the male Panda’s are often found to mate with several females that their territory overlaps with. Litters of 1-3 cubs are born in August or September, in a cave or hollow tree, normally. Usually only one cub will survive, however when several cubs live, the mother chooses one cub that will stay with her for 18 months to be raised.
