Next, in the absence of a consensual definition
for prodromal period, we further examined the
association of bipolar disorder with the development
of dementia after excluding subjects with a
diagnosis of incipient dementia within one, two,
three, and even five years of an initial diagnosis of
bipolar disorder. Notably, the results in Supplementary
Table 1 show that subjects with bipolar
disorder had a higher risk of developing dementia
than the controls across different latency periods
