Owing to the green production consideration, the treatment of agricultural wastes to high value product has become a popular subject]. Due to the mass cultivation of P. eryngii fruiting body in bag-log culture in Taiwan and Southeast Asia, a great deal of waste products, including the fruiting body’s head part and the residues of the used bag-log materials, were produced after the harvest. Among these wastes, the head part was usually cut off and processed to low-price compost for agricultural use. However, this part of the waste was considered to still contain a lot of valuable nutrients like that of the original fruiting body. A more economic and environmentally friendly approach is required to handle this part before it is disposed of as compost.
