Dr. Joan M. McGuire is a Professor in the Educational Psychology Department and Co-Director of the Center on Postsecondary Education and Disability at the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut. She received her B.A. in Humanistic Studies from St. Mary's College (IN), her M.A., Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies, and Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Connecticut. She has coauthored two books on postsecondary education for students with learning disabilities and has more than 70 published refereed journal articles and book chapters in the field of postsecondary education for students with learning disabilities and Universal Design for Instruction (UDI). Dr. McGuire has presented over 150 papers at state, national, and international professional conferences. In addition to serving as the Director of the University of Connecticut Program for College Students with Learning Disabilities for 16 years, she has been awarded more than $3.8 million in federal and state grants.
