April 21st It's a lazy day today. I'm just sitting by the window looking out at my village. It looks even more beautiful than usual in this spring sunshine. The houses look pure white between the tall, green trees of the forest on one side and the big, gray mountains on the other. The river looks like a bright blue ribbon. And my friends, the birds, are singing as beautifully as ever. They don't care if the sun is shining or not. They're always in a good mood. And when they're happy, so am I. This is a friendly village as well as a pretty one. Everyone knows everyone else. Jay says that this isn't a good thing because the neighbors always notice when he gets back late at night. It doesn't matter how quiet he is when he returns home. Mom always knows exactly what time he went to bed because the neighbors tell her the next day!
