Obesity. It was observed that the prevalence of obesity among adult women was higher than among men (40.7% and 28.4%, respectively), using body mass index (BMI).
The prevalence of central obesity measured by waist circumference was also higher among women than men (45% and18.6%, respectively) (Table 2).

It is speculated that weight retention as a result of pregnancy may partly contribute to obesity in later years, in addition to other risk factors. Adiposity in women was found to be related to lower iron absorption.
