The amended interim Constitution has been published in the Royal Gazette on July 15 and become effective the following day.
The amended interim charter has nine sections with the main one allowing the staging of a referendum to approve or disapprove the draft constitution.
The other sections include as follows: the 36-member Constitution Drafting Committee will be disbanded once the National Reform Council rejects the draft charter or the draft charter is voted down in a referendum in which case a new 21-member CDC will be formed to write a new draft in six months; members of the National Legislative Assembly can take an oath before a representative of His Majesty the King or a matured heir of the King; the CDC will have 90 days to amend the draft charter instead of 60 days; the National Reform Council will be dissolved once there is a vote on the draft charter and replaced by a reform steering committee comprising 200 members.
