The design of the exterior skin closely responds to the development of the interior spaces, particularly in relation to the atrium that serves as the social heart' of the institution. The various volumetric cuts to accommodate the programme or the skylight are mimicked on the exterior fagade, allowing the internal programme and the exterior envelope to be bound together in the design process and be developed as a cohesive whole. This responsiveness also extends to other aspects of the programme.
