Recruit Technical Talent
Once a strategy is in place, organizations must execute the strategy
to recruit, reward, and retain the best and brightest technical talent. Th e
best-practice partners approached recruiting in diff erent ways based on
their industries and corporate cultures. For example, several best-practice
partners emphasized internships to evaluate and then bring on board
new talent. Others have de-emphasized traditional internships in favor of
shorter programs lasting only a week or so. For example, Schlumberger
found that shorter programs have the same success as longer internships
but at lower cost. University partnerships and internships were found to
be the most useful technical talent recruiting techniques for sponsor and
best-practice partner organizations alike.
