Isacksen salt dome is in Elf Ringnes
Island of Queen Elizabeth Islands in
NWT, Canada. The dome is 6 km in
diameter and consists of evaporate
formed in late Silurian and
intruded in Cretaceous strata. There
are some other salt domes around
here. These geological feature tells
us that quite thick evaporates
deposited from late Cambrian to
late Silurian.
The fact that these evaporates exist
in lat. 75 ~ 78 degrees N indicates
that back in those days, Canada
shield was formed under high and
dry temperature
