Temulawak is a Zingiberaceae species which is empirically widely used as a traditional
medicine especially its rhizome. Traditionally, it is widely used to treat kidney stones, fever, high-cholesterol level,
joint pain, and hepatitis. Many research studies have been conducted on the active component of the temulawak
rhizome for its antioxidant, antilipidemia, antibacterial, and antifungal activities. The utilization of temulawak
rhizome is causing a voluminous amount of wasted agricultural byproduct wasted. One of these byproducts is the
flower bract part. It is interesting to explore the potency of temulawak flower bract for other purposes to decrease the
volume of agricultural waste.
