Records of a seed lot
Stock or lot number: designated on arrival of the seed lot and against which all subsequent
information on that lot is recorded.
Stock numbers : stock book, formed from a coded system of digits and letters including stock
number of parent material, information (year of multiplication, seed generation or category,
standard of processing and processor’s identity )
All seed lots received: entered into the stock book including those produced by the company or
organization, contractors or other seed companies.
The records: year of multiplication, provenance, pre-cleaning and processing operations ,
quantity of seed after the final processing operation , weight of a sample at a given moisture
content (10 g is normally an appropriate weight for vegetable seeds) , the results of germination,
purity and growing-on tests.
Results of annual germination tests are added during the time that the seed lot is kept by the
