F1 Orange Beauty is the result of cross of two advanced mutants ♀L220/2003 x ♂L228/2003. ♀L220/2003 is the result of individual selection (F10) of the cross F1 Orangeva kapia x Duet. ♂L228/2003 is the result of individual selection (F10) of the cross F1 Orangeva kapia x L474. The mutant variety Orangeva Kapija was officialy approved in 1991. It was developed by irradiation of seeds of Pasardjshka kapija with x-rays (120 Gy) and screening in M3 generation (Registered in MVGS with ID 2192; http://mvgs.iaea.org/Show.aspx?id=2193).
1. New improved character of F1 Orange Beauty is high β- carotene content. This character is derived from mutation of the gene CrtZ-1, which is mapped on pepper chromosome 6 2. High content of Vitamin C. 3. Tolerance to Verticillium desease. Characters 2 and 3 are not derived from mutant genes.
