UK Closed Student Visit National
The public consultation on the UK student visa system closed and responses are being considered carefully before final decision, according to UK Immigration Minister Damian Green in his speech to the think tank Reform last week.
The consultation lasted 8 weeks. The Home Office received about 30,000 responses from organizations and individuals, and it will review those responses before finalizing its proposals on immigration reform.
Minister Green stated that there will be stricter control of non-EU migrants under Tier 4 Student Visa to get rid of abuses from the system. This move is believed to be for the best interest of legitimate students those who have important contribution to UK economy and cultural life.
He also emphasized that the Home Office and the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills will work closely to finalize the government’s proposals and their conclusion will be announced soon.
UK student immigration will be put in a strong framework which requires education providers to tighten and improve their selection and recruitment procedures. This will generate public confidence in the immigration system and ultimately will be good for all the legitimate international students who are welcome to study here, said Minister Green.
