2.2. Cake solidosity
The cake porosity is a very important structural parameter of a dust
cake. The retention of dust particulates causes a reduction in cake
porosity and an increase in the collection efficiency of the dust cake
[14]. Aguiar and Coury [10] adopted an experimental technique for
measuring the porosity of filtration cakes. Ergun [15] used the
following equation to estimate cake porosity ε:
