The discovery that colchicine will produce chromosome doubling in plants was first demonstrated in 1937, and the interest in and importance of the subject is shown in the number of papers on the subject already published, a number that continues to ulerease. In this bulletin the action of colchicine on mitosis and meiosis is described and details are given of the various methods for the application of the treatment of the plant. The plants on which the treatment has been tried are noted. Mention is made of the drug, acenaphthene, which, as Russian workers have shown, has a similar action to colchicine and is cheaper and less poisonous. The bibliography includes 38 titles.
