characte ristic, vo lume ratio of coarse aggrega te, size of coarse aggrega te and stre ngth of poro us concret e have been studied [1–7] , the optimum cond ition to pro duce good por- ous co ncrete has not been establ ished. The mix design, method of mixing and compact ion to pro duce poro us con- crete with poten tially high est stre ngth and durab ility at designe d void ratio a r e sti ll neede d. Thi s i s mainl y due to the fact that por ous co ncrete is a specia l concret e with differ- ent mix design and compact ion allowi ng continuous voids to be form ed with relative ly good co mpressive stre ngth. In ord er to obtain the requ ired con tinuous v oid an d suf- ficient stre ngth, the most impor tant con dition is to keep the continui ty of cement paste with co arse aggrega te embed ded such that continuou s void is maintained [8] . This is ach iev- able with the use of cement paste with relat ively low W/C and suffici ently high worka bility. At low W/C, an impr ove- ment in the text ure an d pro perty of paste is obtaine d with sufficien t mixing time and proper mixing. The knowl edge on rheology of cemen t paste is, there- fore, a basic req uirement for prepari ng good cement paste
