MALACCA: The MCA wants more young people to join it and help in nation-building efforts.
Party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the party wanted to tap the positive energy of the young.
“We are urging more young people who are talented and ambitious to join MCA. It is a waste if they do not get a platform to perform or are being sabotaged,” he said after opening a Malacca MCA cadre training workshop in Alor Gajah here yesterday.
Liow said the party would form more small groups to harness the leadership of the young, and also organise various activities for them.
He said to woo more young people, MCA branches must be more active and take the initiative to organise activities to engage the grassroots at all levels, instead of just relying on divisions or headquarters.
Liow, who is the Transport Minister, noted that it was necessary to change the attitude and operational model at all party branches in order to empower the youth.
In order to remain relevant and strong, the MCA president said party leaders must not be “stuck in the mud” and be willing to change their own mindset
