A total of three accessions of S. spontaneum was collected
in the Vadodara district of middle Gujarat. Exploration
was conducted mainly on the banks of three rivers of
which Mahesagar was the major one. An accession of
S. spontanuem IND-07-1456 was collected in a fallow farm
at Damadu in Vadodara district. It was medium in height
with thin stalks (3.87 mm) and late in flowering. Further
north near Savli, IND-07-1482 was collected on the river
banks and field bunds. Near Dabhoi, IND-07-1487 comparatively
a tall clone (140 cm) was collected on paddy
field bunds. This clone had droopy leaves with comparatively
thick stalks and profuse flowering
