F-Induced Membrane Scrambling
One of the processes causing anemia is accelerated removal
of erythrocytes due to their premature death. To test this
possibility, we employed annexin V binding analysis to
detect externalization of PS at the outer membrane surface,
an acknowledged marker of apoptosis. The number of
annexin-positive cells in the blood of rats ingested 2 and
10 ppm F did not differ from that of control animals (Fig. 1).
