3.1.1. Questionnaire and maps
The two sources of data were questionnaires and the cognitive maps drawn by participants. The SPSS database was sorted
manually based on the map codes in order to add the data from the map analysis to it. Some new variables were counted to
collect all the binary data regarding one particular factor which was asked in different questions for reliability. Data from
cognitive maps was quantified and added to the SPSS database. After collecting all the data, the researcher started analyzing
maps based on these variables from the literature: completeness, legibility (Lynchs’ dimensions), as well as variables suggested
by the researcher (city boundary, map scale, and three dimensional view of the city).
