HND and CD diets were iso-energetic (about 2200 kcal) in accordance with subjects’ habitual energy intake and matched to physicalactivitylevels,andtheycontainedasimilardistributionofmacronutrients(55%carbohydrates, 15% proteins, 30% fats), except for nitrate [29,30]. Fruits and vegetables ensured the different NO3− intake (Table 1).
