A weld repair shall be considered major when:
• It is made to rectify a leak on pressure testing
• The depth of the repair cavity exceeds 25% of the nominal thickness or 1.0 in (25mm), whichever is smaller
• The extent of the repair cavity exceeds 105 in2 (675cm2)
• It is made to rectify laminations in the base material
• It is made to rectify cracks in the weld metal, HAZ or base material
