Samples and chemicals
Three 2 kg samples of each red grape pomace were obtained from the Experimental Research Station plantation located in Santa Catarina state, Brazil.
The varieties, all widely grown in Brazil for wine production, were as follows: ‘Primitivo’, ‘Sangiovese’, ‘Pinot Noir’, ‘Negro Amaro’, ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ (Vitis vinifera), and ‘Isabel’ (Vitis labrusca).
The samples studied were byproducts of the winemaking process, obtained after the fruits had been pressed.
The skins and seeds were manually separated.
